(Redwood City, CA) Mark Church announced that the 10-day public review period for local ballot measures and local candidate filing documents for the June 2, 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026.
During this period, members of the public may review and, if necessary, challenge the language of candidate filing documents, ballot measures, arguments, and impartial analyses before they are finalized and published in the County’s Sample Ballot & Official Voter Information Pamphlet.
This review period is the first of four separate public review periods associated with the June 2, 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election. Each review period will begin at 5:00 p.m. on its respective opening date.
Documents filed with the Registration & Elections Division will be available for public review at www.smcacre.gov/elections under the Current Election section.
Public Review Period Schedule
March 6 to March 16
For candidate statements and ballot measures filed by the filing deadline of March 6 at 5 p.m., the public review period ends on March 16 at 5 p.m.
March 10 to March 20
For primary arguments for and against ballot measures filed by March 10 at 5 p.m., the public review period ends on March 20 at 5 p.m. Arguments in favor of and against city measures must be filed with the City Clerk’s office.
March 11 to March 21
For candidate statements from candidates who filed during the extended candidate filing period closing on March 11 at 5 p.m., the public review period ends on March 21 at 5 p.m.
March 17 to March 27
For rebuttal arguments for and against primary arguments where a primary argument was filed both in favor and against and impartial analyses for each ballot measure, the public review period ends on March 27 at 5 p.m.
During each 10-day public review period, any registered voter eligible to vote in the contest may seek a judicial writ of mandate or an injunction requiring that any of the materials be amended or deleted. Any request for a writ of mandate or injunction must be filed no later than the close of the review period.
Federal, State, and County candidate filing documents, as well as school and special district measures, arguments, and impartial analyses, will be available for in-person review Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the following location:

City candidate and measure documents will be available for in-person review at the respective City Clerk’s Office. Please contact the City Clerk for applicable deadlines, as cities may establish different filing dates.
Early Voting Period Begins May 4, 2026
All registered voters in San Mateo County will be mailed a Vote by Mail ballot in May 2026. Three Vote Centers will open for in-person voting beginning May 4, 2026, with additional Vote Centers opening through Election Day.
