(Redwood City, CA) Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer and Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, officially certified the results today for the July 23, 2024, City of Millbrae Special Recall Election.
The ballot included two separate recall questions for voters in the City of Millbrae. District 2 voters were asked whether Councilmember Angelina Cahalan should be recalled from office, while District 4 voters were asked the same about Councilmember Maurice Goodman. Both recalls passed, with 724 votes (70.91%) in favor of recalling Angelina Cahalan and 1,250 votes (77.50%) in favor of recalling Maurice Goodman. Of the 5,688 eligible voters, 2,635 (46.33%) participated in the election, with nearly all ballots, 2,532 (96.09%), cast as Vote by Mail.
The election results are certified after the Canvass of the Vote is completed within 30 days following the election. This process includes a One Percent Manual Tally of the votes to ensure the accuracy of the results.
