(Redwood City, CA) San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder Mark Church and San Mateo County President of the Board of Supervisors Warren Slocum today announced the launch of a web-based electronic filing and reporting system for campaign finance disclosure forms. The County has partnered with NetFile, an industry leader in paperless e-filing systems, to implement the new program. Candidates and Committees may begin electronically filing their campaign disclosure forms immediately.
State law requires candidates and persons supporting or opposing ballot measures to create a campaign committee and file campaign finance disclosure forms with the County and the State. Assembly Bill 2452, which went into effect January 1, 2013, provides local jurisdictions with the option to eliminate the paper filing requirement for campaign statements and replace it with an electronic filing system.
With the implementation of an electronic filing system, committees will have the option to file their required campaign disclosure forms online. Once submitted, these documents will be immediately posted, in redacted form, on NetFile Inc., https://netfile.com/Filer/, which can also be accessed on the Registration & Elections Division website, www.shapethefuture.org, for public viewing.

It will improve efficiency, ensure accuracy, increase transparency and reduce costs,“ stated Church. “I encourage candidates and committees who have a filing obligation with our office to take advantage of this opportunity,“ he added.

I'm proud that our County has taken this step to support campaigns, candidates and citizens and to deliver democracy with today's technology!“ Slocum remarked.
An overview of the electronic filing system will be conducted at two Candidate Seminars held for the June 7, 2016 Presidential Primary Election.
